The following option enables you to obtain the sum of squares and sum of entries, as well as the mean and standard deviation:
1 Perform steps 1, 2, and 3 above.
2 Press R  to obtain standard deviation (steps 4 and 5 above are omitted).
3 Press R  to obtain the sum of squares.
4 Press R  to obtain the number of entries. If there are more values to be entered, go to step 5 below.
5 Press R  again. Go to step 6 above.
Sample Case 1: In a recent survey to determine the average age of the 10 wealthiest people in the U.S., the following data were obtained:
62 84 47 58 68 60 62 59 71 73
Of the ages given, what is the mean; the standard deviation?
Solution
 Enter:  See Displayed:
    CLx
  62 Σ+ 84 Σ+ 47 Σ+ 58 Σ+ 68 Σ+

60 Σ+ 62 Σ+ 59 Σ+ 71 Σ+ 73 Σ+
  644.00
  sum of numbers

  64.40
  mean

x y
  10.10
  standard deviation
Add two more ages (87 and 49) after the initial calculation. What is the new mean and standard deviation?
 Enter:  See Displayed:

x y     ( Σ)
  644.00
  current sum of numbers

87 Σ+ 49 Σ+
  780.00
  new sum of numbers

  65.00
  new mean

x y
  12.29
  new standard deviation
