Topic: bringin back to life an old hp-97

Dear all,

congratulation for the job done in the posts I have read, I really hope what I'm asking could be of help for someone else.
I'm trying to restore and old HP97, and I was wondering where (if) can be purchased ICs that will work as a replacement.
Also, if someone has a broken HP97 that will sell for a cheap price I'm interested in buying it for recovering ICs.

Thanks a lot for all your suggestions and tips, Alberto

Re: bringin back to life an old hp-97

Hi Alberto,

There is no easy way to purchase old custom chips for vintage HP calculators.

The only source I know where you have a chance is:
http://www.sphere.bc.ca/test/hp-parts/hpparts2.html

But the best way is to buy a cheap unit 'for parts' on eBay.

That's the way I do myself.

Note that except the printing subsystem ( PIK 1820-1723 ), you can use parts from an HP-67 :
ACT 1820-1812 or CRC 1820-1751 for example.

Do you know exactly which part is to change?

Cheers.
