Anniversary 12CP - Ugh!

Hi everyone!

As an MBA and CFA student, I've been using my 12Cs for quite a few years (I have 4 that were manufactured between 1982 and 1995). When the Platinum was launched, I found the colour scheme horrible, so I held off and kept using my reliable 12Cs.

When the 25th anniversary was introduced, I decided to take the plunge. While the increased speed is impressive, I don't really like the new screen or the feel of the keyboard.

There's one thing, though, that drives me completely nuts; I'd exchange the calculator for another if I thought that would help, which is why I'm here.

Unlike my older 12Cs, this calculator does NOT sit flat on the desk when I use it; only 3 of the 4 rubber feet come into contact with the desk. I don't have this problem with any of my 12Cs; I'm not sure if this is because the older units are heavier, or if the rubber feet aren't even.

I'm wondering; are all the new 12C/Platinum/Anniversary units like this, or is mine an exception? If it's the latter, I'll exchange it...if it's the former, then I think I'll stick with my trusted old 12Cs...and buy as many more as I can off of eBay!

I thought this issue was solved. Both my 25th Anniversary 12Cp (CNA 620) and 12C (CN048) are ok, but I had two other more recent 12Cs that had the same problem. I would suggest you exchange it as many times as needed until you get a perfect unit. If everyone does that, perhaps they'll take a better look at quality control.

Well, since the calculator is so much lighter than my older 12Cs, I decided to try "bending" it using the edge of my desk as the fulcrum...I didn't have to use much pressure and it seems to have flattened out. (I don't know why I didn't think of that before...as you can see, us MBAs aren't the sharpest knives in the drawer! Hehehe)

I just did it, so I will see if it reverts back over time...if it does, I'll send it back. I bought it over the net, so returning it is going to be a pain. Otherwise, I think I may have fixed it.

I had the same problem and used the same solution. However, I've also used this solution on a few "classic" voyagers over the years. I think it's an inherent flaw in the design of the case that wasn't so obvious until lower quality production techniques came into the picture.

BTW, if you open on the new 12CP you'll see that they have good sized metal plate in there to give it at least a little weight, but it doesn't do anything structurally.
