HP 48G Dont boot anymore

#5

I havent used my hp48G in two years and wanted to use it now. After changing batteries, the display sometimes flickers a little, freezes then and thats it.
Is there any reset key combination or any idea from you out there?
Thanks for help

BTW: I have already tried the Reset under the rubber pad...

Is there any sign that the old batteries may have leaked at all?

Are you sure that the "new" batteries are really good?

Maybe try gently cleaning up the battery contacts in the calculator, and the battery ends for that matter, say with a typewriter eraser.

For a warmstart, press and release the C key while holding down ON, then release ON, but the Reset under the rubber foot should've forced a warmstart anyway.

For a memory clear, hold down ON, A, and F. Release F and A, and then ON.

For a repeating self-test, press and release E while holding down ON, then release ON. Do a warmstart to break out of the repeating self-test.

James

Are you sure you tried the reset under the correct rubber pad? All the rubber feet have holes under them, but only one actually is the "reset hole." I believe it was in at least a couple of different places on different HP48 models. My 48GX has its reset hole under the top right rubber foot (when looking at the back of the calculator.) It's marked with a tiny R inside the large rectangular hole into which the foot fits, just to the left of the little reset hole itself, but it's not very easy to see, even with a flashlight. (A magnifying glass helps.)

FWIW on the 48G series, it is always the upper right foot.

The early S/SX reset was under the upper left foot, later changing to the upper right.

As Wayne correctly points out, look for the R next to the hole to be sure.
