Re: HP-41CX sun position program.

Post: #15

Hello!

Has sombody plotted barcodes from HP-71 programms on the HP-IL plotter with the commands given from the Zenwand-ROM?

I've no Zenwand-Manual, but I am very interested to use my 71-equipement like my 41-equipement (print and read BC).

Any suggestions?

Thank you and Happy Easter

P.S.: Does anybody know a source for the manual?

If you enter a password with your post (you might have to register), you can edit and delete your posts that are unreplied. As it was, you simply compounded the mistake.

I can't answer your query, because I lack the HP-IL plotter and Zenwand. If "HP-41CX sun position program" had actually been the topic, I know of two programs. If anyone is interested in that, I could provide the info on Sunday.

Regards,

Hello!

Thank you for the lesson!

The sun-position-program in no problem for me.

So I am still searching for comments about using the wand and the plotter with the HP-71 together.

Hello Geir, Forrest,

I guess you've already had a look to the Sun position program in the Hpmuseum library ?

Or do you need a more sophisticated one ?

Etienne --

Thank you for mentioning the programs for planet position in the MoHPC HP-41 Software Library, which I'd forgotten about. The suite of routines requires 2946 bytes, which exceeds the 2240-byte main memory of the HP-41. Thus, the user would need to choose which programs to use, and keep the others in Extended Memory if desired. (This requires an X-Memory module for the HP-41C/CV). This application could be well-suited to the HP-42S, which has more than enough memory, but lacks a clock, time/calendar functions, and expandability.

There are at least two other applications:

  1. The "Sun Altitude, Azimuth, Solar Pond Absorption" program from the HP-41 Users' Library Solutions Solar Engineering book. Scans of this book may be purchased on CD or DVD from "The Other Site", which can be found by following www.furlow.org.

  2. A program submitted in 1986 by Tom Sherman called "Sky Map and Compass" will give good answers for azimuth and elevation angles of the following: Sun, Moon, Venus, Mars, Saturn, Jupiter, and many navigational stars. The program as written is compact -- only 165 lines (414 bytes) -- because it utilizes functions and routines from the HP-41 Navigation Pac (required) and the Time Module (required if using an HP-41C/CV). At least one Memory Module or the Quad Memory Module is required if using an HP-41C. I do not have a source code listing in electronic or magnetic form.

Where can I get this?

Why not ask Tom directly ?

Geir --

As Etienne suggested, you should try to contact Tom directly. I received a complete paper copy of his Program Submittal.

For more information, you can follow this archived thread:
