MathUPro

#6

I was looking at some of the recent posts on calculator applications for PocketPC and Palm. Having searched the forum I was surprised that I didn't see any mention of MathUPro.

I have a number of RPN calculators on my Palm but I really like the way this application mimics the look and feel of a classic HP.

True purist HP fans don't like the fact that MathU does not simulate any existing HP calc. ;-)

My guess would be that true purist HP fans would not like the fact that it does not simulate any classic HP Calc. A simulation of an existing HP calc would just set my teeth on edge ;-)

Hmmm... maybe I should offer "inverted chevron" skins for Nonpareil for people who like the functionality of the classics, but the "styling" of the 33S. And I could use non-contrasting-colors for people that like the teal HP 10B. :-)

Fortunately the 49G+ has fairly high contrast and the keys aren't arranged in too bizarre a fashion, though the ENTER key is still in the wrong place and not big enough. Still not quite as good a layout and color scheme as the HP 48SX, but pretty good.

On the 49G+ I purchased at Fry's a few days ago, serial CNA525xxxxx, all the keys have a good feel, none are loose, and it doesn't seem to miss any keystrokes.

I was going to write it off my taxes, but when I got out of the car a gust of wind blew the bag containing the receipt out of the car, and I wasn't able to run it down. Sigh.

The feature of MathUPro I like best is that it allows you to define your own keyboard - and you really see it! This is better than the blind assignments on any vintage calc.

The big ENTER key is the only key you can't move - and true fans of HP RPN calcs don't want to move this anyway d;-)
