HP-12C: Corrosion on Negative Terminal

#2

Does anyone have a solution for preventing copper oxide corrosion from developing at the negative battery terminal (the platted plunger type contact). I'm guessing the copper oxide is caused by cathodic corrosion which is developing between the two different metals of the battery's negative surface and the calculator's non-tinned negative terminal.

Try tinning the copper contact spring near and at where it touches
the battery. Solder is less reactive than copper.
