I've an 41CV+X, a 82160A HP-IL module and a 82166A HP-IL converter. Could anyone tell me what and how I could use the two HP-IL units? Could that be used to connect my computer and my 41 ? Any info or suggestions are welcome. Sad to let those 2 units unused. Thanks.
Daniel

I believe you can't do much with the 82166 unless you have an Extended I/O module, or a HP-IL development module as well.

The HP82166 is a so-called GPIO (General Purpose Input/Output) device. It can be programmed to build a parallel port for connecting a printer or even to read from a parallel port. I did some experiments years ago and a friend of mine wrote an interface software for connecting the 71B with a Commodore Amiga. I should have the listing somewhere and could ask him for permission for making it public. I remember, that we made some tests using the Amiga as a display and keyboard device for the 71 (via DISPLAY IS and KEYBOARD IS). Sorry, no real experiences with the 41 series, but I'd also think, you should have an extended I/O module or, better a HP-IL development module. |
