Hi, Is this really special and rare in other words as collector a "must have item" ? or does it appear more often on Ebay, in this forum ? Ronald ▼
06-23-2004, 02:52 AM
it is absolutely rare. the last I saw about 2 years ago. ▼

Not anymore. I have both and find them invaluable: they are compact and powerful. Yes, I own an Eramco MLDL too... Massimo ▼

It still keeps me amazing how much was invented on the HP41 and how long develolopment continues even after HP made them a long long time ago obsolete from a production perspective. For me Eramco and MDDL was something from the past, collecting dust in my memory.

And do not forget my MLDL2000 (last bug just fixed). And I do have the Eramco MLDL, a smaller rombox and the W&W Rambox in my collection. Meindert

Actually not all that rare. They seem to appear every few months. ▼

Hi HP41 mcode enthusiasts the new NoVRAM from Diega Diaz is the modern replacement unit for the Eramco MLDL. The NoRAM includes the HEPAX operating system plus 8KByte additionally ROM plus great 16KByte RAM. All this is housed in a standard sized HP41 plug in module shell. Last not least the price for this is absolutely fair. Really great work from Diego Diaz :-)) Regards - Christoph Klug ▼

Right! Now I shall check with Meindert for an MLDL2000... :-) Massimo ▼

1) Where does one buy the programmer? How much does one of those cost? 2) The new modules from Mr. Diaz give us ?
a) the HePAX rom and all in one module housing? What have I missed? and where do I buy a programmer? :-) Gene ▼

Thanks, but that still doesn't answer many of my questions, such as where the programmer thing is purchased. Did I have the rest of it correct? Gene ▼

You can purchase the programmer with the NoVRAM from Diego.

Quote: Gene, I thought the programmer was easily visible on the ad I mentioned:
Quote: Since it comes preprogrammed you could even avoid buying it but I'd take it anyway: you could need it in order to fully reset the module to a known state.

Hi all, Please excuse me for the late reply, I didn't realized this thread turned into such questions on my project. Gene, you're right in your appreciation, but the list is not comprehensive since the NoVRAM module is intended to be a multi-purpose RAM-Box. Thus allowing to replicate whichever other RAM-Box previouly manufactured. So it can handle *any* configuration provided: a) you keep the 24K ROM and 16K RAM limits and... b) don't make any illegal config such as using modules with the same XROM nr. or exceed the number of pages a 41 system can handle. In fact I'm now working in two directions, first trying to finish the User interface programming utility to allow free user access to the remaining extra 8K ROM. (Currently I have to program them from "factory"... so speaking :-) and second, trying to build the code for a new NoVRAM-based project that will include a double extented memory module, it will require reducing the HEPAX-like RAM to 8K though. Further more, considering NoVRAM is *loaded* with non volatile RAM it'll also be possible to built a 10 pages ROM-like module. Obviously I haven't had time enough to produce all the required code for such a "huge" amount of possibilities, but I thought the HEPAX emulation is, on its onw, a very good first step for offering to the HP-41 community. Please do not hesitate in mailing me with your questions or comments. Best wishes from the Canary Islands. Diego. PS: You can have a look at some of the projects development steps at:

How do we judge as a forum this price, Low, fair value, high ? ▼
06-28-2004, 06:48 PM
It is in the middle of the range that they seem to bring.

As a collectible, who knows, everything is valid. My 2 çents. ▼

Same feelings here (see my first post in this thread). ½ ¢ from Massimo ▼

SO it is bassically collector sentiment what determines the price. On the other hand when comparing a device now 20 years old to the present NoVRAM is also comparing apples and pears. I think it was at that time absolutely a miracle to make a thing lke that as it it is today to have the NoVRAM. Both are developed by a few individuals with no large HP Labs back-up. my 1/2 cent ▼

Quote: Exactly, since now you have alternatives in order to achieve the same result.
Quote: Right again. My point is that you don't need to pay such inflated prices anymore if your intent is to USE the thing.
But many among us are collectors and this is another story (I have an Eramco as I wrote before).
