Hi all HP 95lx fans,
I am currently running a benchmark-oriented test on 2 machines: HP95lx against Psion 3C.
This comparison makes sense since both machines have a lot in common:
-Both machines are same size outside and screen size nearly same.
-Lotus 123 built in (ROM) and same version: 2.2
-Built-in calculators: Both with financial functions
-Both machines are MS DOS compatible (Psion = Flash MS DOS)
-Agenda and phonebook functions very similar
-PC connectivity: both with serial cable and infrared
-Prices, new and secondhand: Vey comparable
-Available software, be it paid, shareware or freeware: Lots and lots available for both machines
-Available memory extension cards: Very comparable
Very different: Processors: Psion runs on a strange EPOC NEC V30H 16bits (80C86 compatible at 7.68 Mhz), I need to know the HP95 processor (please HELP ME, cannot find it in the manuals) as far as I know it is an IBM XT compatible processor...
-Internet-capability: I saw some software on the web to bring the HP95lx via modem on the net and for the Psion I saw PsiWinMail...and I am going to test both machines with a self-made cable on a little external modem (Typhoon Redfun Modem V.90 56K USB V.92Ready), ALL HELP/SUGESTIONS this concerning are very welcome!
Since I do not want to travel around with my 2 machines, so here's what's at stake: The loser will be on sale and the winner travels further with me...so any arguments FOR the HP 95 are very welcome! (see, I am alraedy biassed for the HP before even starting the test...this can't go right :):)
CAN YOU PLEASE HELP ME with setting benchmarks for the tests (functionality tests on financial calculations, spreadsheet tests, battery live, PC connectivity etc.)
All possible or craziest ideas are more than welcome!
Bruno
