Slight change in HP Serial Number coding

I have received two new HP calculators in the last month or so. The first is a warranty replacement 49G+, and the second is a 33S. Here are the serial numbers:

49G+:    CN40204986

33S:    CNA41001002

Either the country code has expanded to three characters, or the year has expanded to two hex digits (A4). Anyone know if 164d on the Chinese calender is the same as 2004? ;^)

I was always concerned that the year code was only one digit long; although it's probably doubtful that a model would span more than 10 years, it's possible...

My hope is that the A refers to the year; so perhaps A4 represents 2004, B4 would represent 2014, etc...

Which digits indicate the year and what do they mean? I've been searching everywhere and all I can find are the old codes.

Thanks Matt but I was there. I was looking for the new number like on the last 32s ii with the country code first. I reposted the question and it seems the year now starts at 2000 rather than 1960.

Now I know why you didn't find it... You were there, but just didn't look far enough down the page.

Just follow the link in my last post, then simply scroll down a little with your vertical slider or wheel mouse, and you will find the Serial Number Decoding for the newer HP's.

Just go out and buy a Mint-in-Box HP-16C and use it to do a hex to decimal conversion on the date code... after you get the answer, just send the machine to me and I will dispose of it properly.
