Record for 'dead' 49G+

#6

I think I have the record for a dead 49G+. It took just two and one half weeks to 'kill' it. Maybe I'll get a replacement with more reliable keys, or maybe that's wishful thinking?

You are not even close... NUMEROUS reports of them dead out of the box. My neighbor's unit died after less than two hours.

David, please tell us more. Tell us everything you know. Thanks, Jim Chumbley

My -49g+ died after being used from 10/8/2003 to 10/26/2003. This is 18 days. In the interest of scientific accuracy, we would have to know exactly the hours to failure. Mine went into service at 9:30 a.m., 10/8, and died at 7:00 p.m., 10/26. This totals 442.5 hours of life for my first -49g+. The clock is still running on my second one. I wonder how many hours your machine, Iqbal, ran to failure? Seriously, for only two sample points, these are amazingly tightly clustered for MTTF (mean time to failure) estimates for infant mortality failures of the -49g+. There is one other -49g+ that failed. We can ask Jerry how many hours his lived. However all these numbers work out, I claim the FIRST -49g+ failure. Regards, Jim Chumbley

Iqbal,

Let's nick name the 49G+ as Bill ... this will give "Kill Bill" a new meaning!
