Hiya all, just came back from my 26-day summer vacation out there in some beautiful & sunny Spanish beach.
Upon checking my regular mailbox, I was delighted to find there the latest issue of HPCC's "Datafile" publication (V22N4 July/August), which coincidentally happens to include [shameless plug] two of my articles, namely
HP-15C Nth degree Polynomial Fitting
A 6-page article which includes a program to fit a polynomial of up to 6th degree to a set of arbitrary data points. The program prompts for the data points, then computes and outputs the coefficients of the explicit polynomial which fits them all, in just 42 steps.
Long Live the Advantage ROM!
An 8-page article belonging to my commemorative "Long Live!" series, which includes a 41C/Advantage user-friendly, fully-prompting implementation of the above HP-15C program, in just 60 individually-commented steps, and including a thorough discussion of the differences between both approaches.
Four application examples are given in all, including fitting, interpolation, inverse interpolation, finding a polynomial given its roots, and exposing polynomials disguised as trigonometrics :-)
Of course, this Datafile issue is also choke-full of other
interesting articles and programs, including:
"A Note in Internet Access with the HP-200LX"etc, etc.
"RPN, ALG, and the HP12C Platinum"
"HP-38G Clear Advantage Over HP48G/49G"
"Old Timers" [very interesting article on the HP-45/55 timer, by Jordi Hidalgo, includes extremely comprehensive references]
"QPI for HP42S"
"What is HP-42X?"
"EMU41 for HP48/49: Some hidden key-combinations"
"A substitue i-solver for the HP12C Platinum"
"HP Calculator History: the HP95LX"
For the very next issues, expect to find (Mr. Bruce Horrocks permitting) several more of my articles, including "Long Live the HP-16C!", featuring a program which *really* makes the HP-16C capabilities shine, and an awesome, chess-related program for the HP-71B ! (ditto).
If you feel like having a look at some or all of these, I would heartily suggest you visit the HPCC's web site at:
HPCC - HANDHELD AND PORTABLE COMPUTER CLUB (formerly PPC UK)
Since the good old PPC, CHHU and HPX bit the dust, this is one of the best and most successful struggles to keep our beloved machines alive. You still get the old thrill of waiting for your issue to materialize in the mailbox, and read it with utmost delight and interest. So, anything we can do to help it going, be it submitting articles and programs, or subscribing, or both, will be in everybody's best interest.
Best regards from Valentin Albillo (formerly PPC member #4747, currently HPCC member #1075), who, needless to say, gets no profit at all from this, other than the pleasure of contributing to the HP calcs users' community.
