Just thought I'd post this in case it's ever helpful to others:
I overhauled an HP-41 card reader last night. When it came to replacing the square sticker, I wanted it to stick firmly without too strong a glue, etc.
I placed the sticker/id plate upside down on some scratch paper and rolled over it with the new roll-on office adhesive (applies an adhesive double stick film). Lifting it off the paper, I had a completely re-adhesive piece. Thin, even. The tiny bit of adhesive on the edges rubbed right off after the sticker was replaced.
I wonder if temporary adhesive would work as well and still allow easy removal if needed? Anyway, this might be of use elsewhere in restoration. Liquid adhesives are messy and usually uneven and difficult to remove again.
