Printer Paper

#4

From what I've seen HP calculator printer paper (82143a and the 8224a and I suspect the hp 97 series) is very scarse and expensive.

Can I let you into a little secret which works here in Australia and it might work in your neck of the woods.

In Australia they have a huge number of EFTPOS (Electric Funds Transfer at Point Of Sale) terminals - they are everywhere. They even have them in taxis. These machines give a receipt which is generated by a printer which uses the heat sensitive paper that these printers use. I just ask the shopkeeper if they have any spare rolls. They give them to you as the bank gives them to them. Just tonight the cabdriver gave me two rolls of this paper. From what I have seen on ebay he gave over $US20 worth of paper for zilch, zero, nothing.

I don't know if these EFTPOS machines are as numerous in your country as they are in Australia but if they are they are a great free source of heat sensitive paper.

I have found that just plain thermal adding machine paper of the same size works just fine in my 82162A and 82240B printers. You can get it at any office supply store for about $3 to $5 for a pack of 6 to 8 rolls.

Still, Howard's post gives us another great reason to visit Australia!
