Need guidance! HP12cP: where to buy?

#7

Hi, folks;

I have the chance, this very week, to get in contact with an HP12cP. Avoiding detailed information, I need to know where it can be bought on-line, I mean, an e-address so it can be ordered in the USA.

I know this information has already been available in this forum, and I received an e-mail by Jorgi Hidalgo where he mentions an e-place where it can be ordered, but I cannot retrieve such information.

Please, I have only till Tuesday to confirm the e-place so I can be able to have one. My interest is not specifically in having an HP12cP, but having the chance to know it and how do its new features work in order to develop a professional activity.

If there is anyone that can help me pointing out an e-place where it can be bought on line, I'm extremely thanked.

HP's website, the page that was posted here a few days ago, will find dealers for you:

http://www.hp.com/calculators/financial/12p/

See the button marked "locate a reseller>>". For the United States, it lists three:

Office Depot http://www.officedepot.com

Office Max http://www.officemax.com

Staples http://www.staples.com

They also list Chile, Colombia, Peru and Venezuela - what happened to Brazil? Argentina? HP only likes the west side of South America?

I hope I didn't jump the gun with those links! Office Depot hides calculators under "Office Machines". Here is a direct link to the page of "Business/Scientific Calculators", but it doesn't include the 12cP:

http://www.officedepot.com/ddMain.do?level=SC&id=1002001&location_info=SG_3_DV_10_SC_1002001

Office Max doesn't list the 12c let alone the 12cP - but they do have the 10BII (on the second page):

http://www.officemax.com/max/solutions/product/thumbnail.jsp?BV_UseBVCookie=yes&expansionOID=-536879774

Staples also puts them under office machines and they don't have it either:

http://www.staples.com/Catalog/Browse/class.asp?PageType=3&ClassID=140514&bcFlag=True&bcSCatId=3&bcSCatName=Technology&bcCatId=9&bcCatName=Office+Machines&bcDeptId=900&bcDeptName=Calculators

That's one of the longest URL's I've ever seen! They must have been taking those pills that are always being offered by email!

Then I called all three local stores - they never heard of it.

Hi, Ellis;

I was told by someone in USA that both Office Depot and Office Max are not aware of the HP12cP, too.

HP is taking desperate measures: announcing sale offices that do not know they are selling.

Funny.. if it was not tragic.

Thanks a lot!

I called 1.888.GO.DEPOT to order a 12C platinum and they told me that had them. So, I order two. They arrived the next day - lo and behold - they were regular 12C's :-(

So, I called and bitched and they are picking them up tomorrow. They sales guy I got said he know nothing about them.

I called CA, PA, IL, and emailed Austrailia - nobody knew anything. So, I thought, "What the hell is HP doing?" It seemed to me that the 12C might be crap and they are tring to create mystery and "demand" to get as many out the door as they can before it's known how junkie they really are.

However, I still wanting to get one at least to find out for myself.

Finally, today (June 4th) HP's website has them for $79.95 ea. It's supposed to arrive tomorrow.

I'll let you know what I find...
