I just saw the last bit of the last story on the NBC nightly news. It was about video games and whether they are harmful: surprising news... I caught a little (which I have heard before) about how the military is using them to train people who are going to use similar interfaces to operate battlefield equipment. Then they had a clip of an expert who said the experience of video games doesn't help people to solve problems in mathematics. They concluded the story with the statement that there is no substitute for learning the subject the old fashined way, accompanied by video of a student doing math homework with a calculator! (looked like a TI graphing model)
NBC: tongue in cheek?
