Is this a joke????

"15C Calculator, it is in good condition, however has some worn markings on the backside, but all in all appears in good condition"

"worn markings on the backside" ??? Looks like it was run over by a truck!

Hi;

I do not understand why all references to the calculator are made in the past: The HP-15C was a high end scientific programmable., or: To see the imaginary part, the user could press f(i) and hold it as long as needed.. It seems the text was extracted "as is" from a historical reference, as if the calculator no longer exists.

I found it, at least, weird.

It no longer exists. The 15C is a discontinued model. That's why the sentences are in the past tense.

Being discontinued and being non-existent seem different to me. I personally have three of these non-existent calculators.

#24

I think Luiz has a point. Freud said that when someone is trying to hide something, he ends up making mistakes that shows the truth. I know the name of the concept in Portuguese, but not in English. Maybe Dr. Meyers can help.

#25

The term in English is "Freudian slip."

LC

#26

Freudian slip. Ok.
So what do you think - does it apply in this case ?

#27

>Being discontinued and being non-existent seem different to me. I personally have three of these non-existent calculators

"Nonexistent" not in a physical sense, of course. Like Luiz, I'm using the word loosely as meaning "no longer being made or supported." If you check HP's website, you will find nothing about that model, and HP certainly accepts no more orders for it.

Besides, your three 15Cs are not _the_ HP-15C, but three physical copies of the one that became "nonexistent."

If I still don't make sense, let me know and I'll gladly shut up. 8^)

taking him at face value: he speaks spanish as a first language and uses ebay in spanish. notice the tense error "worn" in the first sentence. that is common in going from spanish to english when using our iregular verbs. i am not dissing his communication skills: i wish i could talk spanish like he talks english. i only speak english and dude...............(pause)................dude.

anyway, he talks about the 15c in the present but he only wrote the first one and the last two & a half sentences. the rest, the past tense part, is coppied from someone who knows english and "hp" better. i'll ask him if it functions and get back to youall.

R Lion; maybe my trusting soul is wrong here and he is a sneak. or he is way lazy. or money is so tight for him that he can't afford 3 a76 cells to test it. one strange thing is that his reply to me came with a gringo's name attached. anyway here it is:

I cannot say, I am not the original user, and that is
why I sell This unit "as-is"......Sorry for lack of
information. Have a great day.....

still, the "that is why i sell this unit" is a common esl way to turn the phrase. notice the missing "the" too. maybe it's pauls wife? whatever. i just ran out of interest. although; i might put a small bid in for the parts because i think this one smells like burned toast. i hope our mystery seller has a great day too.

I always look at a sellers feedback. I like it to be a high percentage (need not be perfect, in fact I like to see one or two negatives). And heres why. How did the seller respond to a negative, did he respond with a negative? was he at fault? If who he placed a negative with, have a lot of negatives? If so, fine, ebay methods at work (you deal on ebay often enough, your bound to deal with a jerk, especialy as a seller).

But If I see over 2% negative and he also responds with negatives, I go elsewhere. The only real leverage a buyer has on ebay is HIS BID!!! After you bid, you are at the mercy of the seller, will he ship item as described? After he has $$$, he usually waits for you to recieve and post feedback. If you don't some sellers cry or post nuetrals. Either way, I feel it is a flawed system that rewards or at least allows sellers to carry on with poor habits. If I sell on ebay and a buyer fulfils his side of the bargain with a prompt payment, I need no more information, I leave a positive feedback, then and there. If a problem happens in shipment, I want to resolve the issue, so not to get a negative, but that should not be an issue of leverage, the buyer has paid promptly. If I do get a negative, I want the person to note how I corrected. Granted, deadbeat bidders do need to be identified. But that happens with NO Payment!

But my complaint is to many sellers get paid promptly, take their time shipping or due to poor postal deliveries, have an item lost, get a negative and immediately post a negative on a decent buyer, out of spite. While it may be the buyer did not wait for reparation, a payment lost in the mail will also draw a negative and whose fault is that?

I no longer post positive feedback to sellers until they post to me (on occasion I have if the item is better than stated or extreme care in packageing, etc.).

I suggest you read a few negative comments posted by this seller before you bid on this PRIZE. Don't worry about competetion from me.

your right. after reading the answers to the negatives i pass too. that just might be the email owners wife. sure reminds me of my old mistake.

#33

Even if HP were still making the 15C, this one is definately in the past!

#34

My 12C, that was run over by a car, doesn't look that bad!

#35

Well, at least it is not accompanied by an MoHPC picture!

#36

I went straight to Ebay and just looked up the item number, and everything was in English for me. I think the only reason we are seeing Spanish is because R Lion's original link was to his national Ebay website.

10% negative feedback is pretty high. And the enthusiasm of hid detractors is astonishing! THIEF! CROOK! And why has he started thanking them for negative feedback?
