I'm just trying to get an old HP2225 HP-IL printer to work.
After cleaning up a lot of spilt ink around the ink cartridge contacts, it "almost" works.
If I prime the cartridge (I am familiar with these printers, I used them when they first came out) I get a few lines of the self test OK. This indicates to me that the printer is OK.
However the printer slowly (over a couple of lines) decides that it's not going to print much at all.
This cartridge is OLD (and it's been in the printer for un unknown number of years) and I'm wondering if it's likely to be drying up of the ink, or maybe a stiffening of the ink bladder that's the problem?
I've managed to get a drop or so of isopropyl alcohol into the jets (replacing some air that was in the bladder) and I'm hoping that this reduces the viscocity of the ink if that's the source of my problems.
However the fact that there's air in there at all makes me wonder about the possibility of the bladder losing flexibility over the time it has stood in the printer.
I've got some cartridges on their way to me, so hopefully they'll do the trick.
I'd appreciate any suggestions, or observations people have about this problem -- any proud HP2225 owners out there?
