Calculator collection

#7

Hi,

The post from Alexander Oestert made me look back at my collection and think at the explanation of how it is so far:

When urgent budget matters where (relatively!) under control, I decided to start a collection with the objective to have the 'families' I loved the most. Before that I had to sell my current one if I wanted to get the newest one. So, I decided that my collection would be completed with the following:

1. Voyager: every single one of them.

2. Pioneer: Scientific RPN calculators of this series: 32s (at that moment it was my current calculator), 32s II and 42s.

But during the time taken to complete my collection (the last item was a HP 16C), some extra calculator where added for perfectly (ahem) 'good reasons':

- 33s : My daughter needed a calculator and she was introduced to RPN by his proud father very early with the 32s. She still uses it and it is her preferred calculator. So technically, it is not part of my collection.

- 35s : My second daughter needed a calculator. Now, she prefers the WP 34S. So, It is officially part of the collection.

- HP 35: I was surprised by the price in eBay and it is the first pocket scientific calculator!!!!

- HP 50g: My daughters needed...well you know the drill. They used it just for high school, so know it is mine!

- HP 21: nostalgia: it was my first HP calculator as a student, and my daughters love it because ¡§it is so retro and cute¡¨.

- HP 32E: Non-programmable RPN for exams (my daughters')

- HP 71B: no excuses...it is just the 71B!!!

- HP 82240B: if not then, how can I print from the 42s and the 50g??

- HP 15C limited edition: Because...But it is a pity that HP did not updated the firmware to solve the few bugs.

So, there you have it, my entire collection so far. It began with very humble purpose and it continues to be that way. I just need some more good reasons (excuses) to backup new acquisition.

Regards,

Miguel

Miguel - You are exhibiting all the signs of invasion by the mysterious and non-curable "RPN" contagion. It's a wonderful thing!

I agree. RPN is a wonderful thing.

I still miss a HP-35 RedDot prototype in my collection..... Anyone as one for sale?
Then, a fine x-mas present would finally be a Mountain EPROM programmer.... I'm looking for this f****ing machine since 6 jears - at least!

Hi.

My collection:

HP 11C

HP 12C

HP 12C PLATINUM

HP 15C (1989 Made in USA)

HP 15C LE (Made in China...the F and G keys... you understand me... but is a good machine)

HP 32SII: only need touch the keys...and you love it

WP 34S: like say Walter B few days ago... "it runs circles around the HP-35S IMHO". Excellent!

HP 35S: very pretty, but if the calculator had matrix operations by design...will be fantastic...

HP 48SX

HP 48GX black LCD: Using in my teaching class in the university...

HP 50g: Now in the case without batteries...because of:

New HP Prime

The local junior college had an auction some years back: outdated technology. They had at least 50 HP 35's sitting in a dusty box. I didn't know anything at the time... so I selected one good looking unit and paid my $1. Wish I could go back in time and give them another $49 :(
