Abacus calculators - Dave: A new link?


I did a search for the ABACUS electronic calculators but found this web site:


The scanned abacus manual is nice - I can see where HP might of got some ideas for making their manuals comprehensive! See:


I now see how lucky we are to have been given the legacy of the HP35 for pocketable 10+ digit calculators that require only a little knowledge from the operator.

I don't know if this is significant, but the manual for the Lee abacus described in the second URL


mentions the "red dot" several times. (see, eg, p.2, bottom paragraph.) Did HP back in the early 70s think that their new handheld should have a red dot?
