slow calculation

#5

hi there,

I have a HP48G calculator which is probably 13 years old or more and which I love to use. In last while (year or more) the calculation speed (ie the time to return solution) has gone up quite a bit, even for the simplest calculations. Any advice is greatly appreciated, I would hate to part with this calculator.

thanks

Hi,

this seems to be a typical "Full to the Brim" thing, which means your calc probably is low on free memory.
Drop some stack objects or otherwise unused stuff from the variables area (VAR)

There are many possible reasons for HP48G slowdown. One that isn't obvious at all is that leaving the LIBRARY menu in the display slows down the machine. If you have multiple libraries installed, the LIBRARY menu slows the machine WAY down. (It actually just delays each stack display update, but it FEELS like the whole machine has gotten sluggish.) Any other menu is faster.

If that doesn't help, try an ON+C soft reboot. It doesn't clear your programs, just the stack and other temporary junk. It's worth a try.

thanks for the advice. I simply cleared the stack and that fixed it.
