Catalogs as menus in WP34s Qt Emulator

#8

I've just uploaded a new version of the emulators. By default, entering a catalog now opens a popup menu with its full content. One can navigate it with arrows, select an entry by its first keys, etc.
Once it is close, it can be reopen by either pressing k or clicking on the text part of the screen.

An option in preferences allows to go back to previous behavior: the menu is still accessible then (k or click) but does not open by itself when entering a catalog.

As usual, feedbacks are welcome.

It's not a bad idea to bookmark this link: ;-)

Thanks Franz!

The menu popup feature is awesome and very convenient! Thank you Pascal.

WOW, that's really a great feature, many thanks!

It's also good that the textsize can be changed in the skinfile because it was set a bit too big for my taste.

But there are 2 things I would like to change (that's why I looked at the skinfiles if it can be done):

What I don't like very much is that this popup windows overlaps the calculator - I would prefer a separate window docked at the left side of the calculator window (in the same way as the debugger/register window on the right side).

And then this command list should only have the same heigth/length as the main (calculator) window, but not the full screen height - possibly with a scrollbar like the register display.

Of course that's only _my_ opinion ...

And then it would be great if we could also have such a window for alpha-characters, because entering special characters is quite complicated in the WP34s. I know that this would be much harder than displaying the catalog commands (because this alpha-mode is structured in a different way), but maybe you could find a method!? ;-)

This is something I considered and I agree it would be nice but as it can be this way on the iOS emulator too, I chose to stick with the default behavior.

Yes, something else I considered too and did not implement, mainly because I did not want to spend too much time on this evolution. I'll see if I can add it.

I could find a method but the priority will be to report fonts & menus to the iOS version, then to integrate the assembler/disassembler & and printer into the emulator. And to write an Android version probably.
So I have a few busy months ahead of me.

Glad to see that an Android version is planned!! My 7" tablet is waiting for it...

Not before this summer though. And if everything goes as planned.

Wow really nice!

Android would be nice too as I do no like using the Free42 anymore when needing something programmable on my phone.

Love this feature too. Android version would be really appreciated.
