Previously dead WP 34S is resurrected!

#4

I posted previously about a WP 34S that I had given up for dead. I had attempted to install the USB and IR printing board that Harald provided. After that install I was no longer able to flash the calculator. The flash process would erase the existing firmware, but not go any further. I was trying to flash the calculator via the added USB port.
Jeff O. sent me an e-mail and very kindly offered to try flashing the calculator for me. I explained the situation and how I got to where I was. I (mistakenly) believed that the addition of Harald's board left the 6-pin connector no longer functional, but it wasn't until I was answering Jeff's questions that I realized I hadn't tried. I gave it a try and it worked. I now have a WP 34S flashed to version 3. The stopwatch seems to work. I need to find a way to test printing but I'm thinking the problem has been with my computer and USB cable.
Thank you to Jeff for his offer to assist with flashing. Thank you to the WP 34 S team for all your work. Thank you to Harald for the work on the USB adapter board. I now look forward to using this machine. I'm sure the adjustment from version 2 to version 3 will not be too difficult, but if so there is a wonderful looking manual to help.

You shouldn't have any problems adjusting the the version 3 firmware. Pretty much all the commands stayed the same from the user's viewpoint, although they will be a little slower generally. The bug fixes and extra features are worth it. Local registers are huge boon.

About a factor of two. Well, "a little" ...
