OT: Google evaluates mathematic expressions (with a twist) « Next Oldest | Next Newest »

It has been noted here that after the evaluated expression, some (most) of the search results are not exactly related to the original search term. We're used to filtering to find what we're looking for, but you might be surprised at what comes up (no pun intended). I suppose there is a loose connection between these sites and multiplication... ;) Enter something harmless like this into Google, but you might not want to do it at work: -4^(1/4)^3 WARNING -- DO NOT PUT THAT EXPRESSION IN THE IMAGE SEARCH Edited: 12 Feb 2013, 3:13 p.m. ▼ Walter B Unregistered Posts: 4,587 Threads: 105 Joined: Jul 2005 02-12-2013, 03:36 PM Quote: -4^(1/4)^3 Google doesn't return anything for that :-? ▼ Walter B Unregistered Posts: 4,587 Threads: 105 Joined: Jul 2005 02-12-2013, 03:39 PM Things change a bit when I enter -4^(1/4)^3= No pictures, however ... d:-/ Max Stone Unregistered Posts: 20 Threads: 7 Joined: Feb 2013 02-12-2013, 04:19 PM Not even safe for home! Try this in google's search box...it's safe, but interesting if you don't recognize it... sqr(5*(((((1+.2*(350/661.5)^2)^3.5-1)*(1-6.875E-6*25500)^-5.2656)+1)^.286-1)) Hint - probably as fast as I want to leave the previous search query! ▼ Juan J Unregistered Posts: 195 Threads: 25 Joined: Jul 2005 02-13-2013, 09:05 AM Nice memories...
