10C: asterisk occasionally flashes on LCD

#4

What does this mean? Is my battery getting low? It appears every now and then in the lower left part of the display for just a couple of seconds and then goes away.

Hi;

that's correct, Therese: the blinking asterisk means that the batteries are running low for the internal sensors. So, you may also have a bad contact (any sort of dirt will cause that, even finger fat). If you have the means, test each battery; maybe one of them is getting low.

It's also good practice checking for batteries leakage (monthly); your HP10C (as you are probably fed up listening) is a lot precious, and this is a simple check to keep it alive.

Best regards.
