Dear members of the hpmuseum,

I am saddened at the passing of dear Sam who has been my internet friend since we connected through the HP museum in 2007. He was designnut, my nick is hpnut.

You can read an obituary for Sam here http://obits.dignitymemorial.com/dignity-memorial/obituary.aspx?n=Ernest-Levy&lc=7056&pid=161031915&mid=5303599

I have also created an online guestbook for Sam.

Please take a moment to sign the guestbook for Sam.

Thank you.

Hi.

Thanks for sharing.

I did not have the chance to go any deeper in a e-friendship, but I had the chance to keep some brief e-mail exchange with him some six or seven years ago. Unfortunately I was not in my best moments in life to make them better...

He had much knowledge of analog electronics and showed some interest in how to digitally solve load flow related problems. When I presented him the specific parts I found at Willian D. Stevenson's 'Elements of Power System Analysis' he read it and mentioned that it was almost the same thing he did in analog mode. I guess Norman - AKA Captain Zener - would like very much to talk to him.

I'm gladly - and sadly - going to sign the guest book.

Best regards.

Luiz (Brazil)

Hi, hpnut:

First of all please let me express my heartfelt condolences to you and Sam's family on his passing away.

I always read Sam's (designnut) posts to this forum which had an unique kind of old-school warmth to them which I pretty much liked.

He was always keen on learning how best to do things with his tried-and-trusty HP calculators and RPN techniques as they applied to his design interests, as well as offering every trick on his book to fellow HP users, tricks he gathered after decades of practical experience tackling real-world problems and that he was more than happy to share with all of us, with his characteristic utmost kindness.

He was truly unique. He will be sorely missed.

Best regards from V.

Arjunaidi,

I'm sad to hear of Sam's passing and sorry for your loss.

I only interacted with him briefly a few years ago away from this forum but was impressed by his refreshingly straightforward style. Obviously he had a deep understanding of electronics and engineering and his contributions here often started us on long discussions. He will be missed.

I'm sad too for the passing of a member of our community.
I had not the pleasure to know him personally or to read him, 'cause I met this forum so late.......... I'm afraid.
Condolences for his family and for all his friends.

I am sure this is a common feeling here, only a few of us (like myself) have some trouble in expressing it. Yours and other people's words are quite appropriate, so I'll borrow them.

Perhaps you just don't remember. You've both participated in at least two threads:
