HP45/32E Connection

Hi there.

In the 4th issue of HP Digest for the Series E HP-32E, the text body reads "Like the classic HP-45, the HP-32 is packed with
dozens of invaluable mathematical and scientific functions". If that's the case, why wasn't there a Woodstock version of an updated HP-45? OR, was the 27 an update of the 45? I am thinking that the 27 had no connection to the 45 mainly because of its TVM function set and the lack of Metric/US conversion functions.

It is kind of interesting that the 21 was essentially the Woodstock version of the 35 and there wasn't an equivalent of the 45, unless you count the 25, but that's programmable (and also doesn't have the conversion functions). Maybe they figured there wasn't much of a reason to fill the gap between the 21 and 25; that someone who wanted the extra functions would probably also want to be able to program it. Though like you say the 27 comes pretty close.

Looking at the revamped 35 (AKA HP-35 v4), the 21 (especially with its uppercase function nomenclature and font) does bear striking resemblance to the suggestion of 'a 35 in a Woodstock shell.'
