HP Xpander. A good idea that could've worked?

#2

Hi all.

Looking over the Xpander page here, I'm a little disappointed that this project wasn't refined and brought back some later time.

Could the Xpander have survived if it were refined, resesigned and introduced later? What were its shortcomings (aside from the ones mentioned)? Or, no matter what HP devised, TI's hold on the educational market was already unconquerable?
