How many HP41 Modules are there?

#9

I've been wondering just how many different plug in modules there are for the HP-41. I've seen some unusual ones showing up in some of the ads. The USPS one and the GMAC one are two I've seen lately. I can figure out that the GMAC is probally loan or lease calculations, but what in the world did the USPS use a module for - calculating postal rates?

Has anyone made a list of all the different types? It'd be nice to have a list of which person has which modules and especially if they have a manual. That way when we run across an odd module, we'd know who might have a manual that we could possibly get a copy of. It'd be great if the manuals could be scanned and PDF so others could enjoy them.

I'm more of an user than a collector. Is it possible that some of the more odd modules could be dumped to rom image files so that we could play with them on the PC emulators? I'd love to see what these modules actually do.

Where I have listed a pair of names, the second name is what shows up in CATalog 2. The last two modules I can not find around here, at the moment. Some I have that may not be on the list:

(does not catalog)

SUP-R-ROM

FORECAST 1

*FORECASTER

RACETRACK

SPEED MACHINE II

SM II

SUN SHOOTER 41TH Co-op Module

Thanks Ty & Chris.

I've started an Excel Spreadsheet of the various modules. If you don't mind, could you e-mail me whatever you have on each module for inclusion in the list:

Module name
Part Number
Manufacturer
Cat 2 Name
Manual Avail?
Short Description of what module does

I'm also going through the Educalc Catalog #29 and including any module I find there.

Thanks for your Help.

Some more:

SKWIDBC Skwid Ink SKWIDBC Bar Code Generation Module
(And there is a "plus" Version of this, any of these around?)

HP 82500A-S01 ASTRO*ROM, E&K SURV INC, ID31 USA

HP 82508A-S07 ASTRO*ROM2, EKS SURV INC, ID 31 SINGAPORE

HP 82500B-E32 TOPO-SURVEY, DEMOPOULOS, ID 21/31 USA

HP 82500B-E33 T.M-GEODETIC, DEMOPOULOS, ID 9/10 USA

HP 82500B-E76 SCHENK MODUL, DELIUSKLASING, ID 21/31

All custom modules made by HP have a number of 82500x-xxx,
so it would be nice if all of You could give this number always to the module name, this makes identification much easier.
The Skwid Ink Barcode Module is a "burned" module, so it has
no HP part number.

Hi;

I have a few HP41 devices and modules, and sometimes I load a program that generates a NONEXISTENT message; usually, a XROM mm,ff (mm - module #, ff - function #) appears and I have to remember what the h... module/device was that I used to write the program.

An upgradable list with module name, available functions and XROM mm,ff would be a good source of information. Mostly if we want to write a program and generate a barcode for it, and the program listings contain XROM functions and we do not have the module connected to the calculator so we cannot check for the number. That almost the opposite of loading a program with functions available in modules that are not connected.

Ty Rogers posted a list (except for the last one, it's in alphabetical order) with a lot of module names, and I'd like to know also which functions they have and what are their XROM #. I have the X-Functions/Memory, Navigation, Financial, HPIL and X-IO, plus Reader, Printer and Wand. For these I have the list and I can post them here. But I think that having a common place for this list would help much.

Is there any location in the Internet that has them? If not, Dave, what about having a place for this permanent/growing list at the museum? Just an idea.

Best regards.
