15C-LE Overdue for a fix?

Hello all.

I just saw the 15C-LE bug report. Being that it was dated the day after Christmas of last year, have there been new batches of the 15C-LE which fixes these bugs?

The bug reports go back to the first people that received them in September of 2011. If there have been new batches of 15C LE released there have been no reports of different firmware being used in them. There has been no indication from HP if they're planning on fixing the bugs at all.

I just received 3 European distributed 15C LE calculators from a dealer in Spain. The checksum self test for the firmware is still reporting:

ChE--FFFFh

2011-04-15

C 2008 hP

Interestingly, the highest Limited Edition Number of these three calculators is 174** which suggests that more than the 10,000 units originally suggested have been manufactured. The USA distributed unit, which I use daily, has a Limited Edition Number of 017**.

The manual has been updated to include the correct self-tests.

Nick, I second your observations: My European unit has the exact same firmware as the older U.S. imported one. My older unit has a serial# of CNA13208GF and LE# 00052 (!). My newer one from José's thecalculatorstore has serial# CNA15100HV and LE# 17355. I can't interpret the CNA serials. Can someone help?

I doubt you can deduct any production figures from the LE numbers. It looks like these are randomly distributed within certain ranges.

Since there's a unique serial number and the total number of units produced seems to be a company secret, this LE number is more of a marketing gag than anything useful.

CNA – factory designation

1 - last digit of year of manufacture, so 2011

51 - week (or approximate week) of manufacture

00HV - individual unit number. Presuming 36 possibilities for each character, yours was the 310th unit made that week. If they leave I's, O's and Q's to avoid confusion with numbers, it was number 283. If they leave out other letters, I don't know what number yours was.

i have #16784 and CNA15100QC. so Q is used.
