Entering 34s SAM-BA bootloader without Erase button.

Post: #2

Since I am working on the USB adaptor for the calculator (and that won't have an erase button), I thought I'd try and not use the erase button on my cable for reflashing to see how this is done.

I have tried to enter the bootloader by pressing ON+S+S as descreibed here. But didn't have any success.

Has this changed or am I missreading something? I have pressed and held "ON", then pressed and released "S" (or 6) and pressed and released "S" again. Since nothing happend I did a reset. But after turning on the calculator powered up as normal.

You missed a prerequisite: please press ON+D once before the attempt to switch to the boot loader! This is a precaution because otherwise it would be too simple to get into SAM-BA mode and without the cable you're stuck.

Oh, that's why :) Now it worked.

Why no erase button? Doesn't it just connect a couple of pins on the calc connector?

Yes, it is just one connection. However this USB adaptor is supposed to be integrated into the calculator. Space is quite tight and I don't want to use more parts than necessary. And since the button would only be used once, I don't think the adaptor needs one.
