Model 27

#2

My Model 27 was bought new at the Portland State Univ. bookstore in Sept., 1976. I used it four five years of grad school, three years of univ. teaching, and a year in env. consulting before it stopped working. Symptom: neither new batteries nor the power pack would make it run. By the time I got around to contacting HP in Corvallis, OR, they had moved everything offshore. Can it be made functional? Who can or would do it? You wouldn't believe the stuff I did with it, from Newton's Approximation through Gaussian quadrature and boxcar averaging through figuring out how much car I could afford with a $100/month payment.

Have you look up the contacts ? Beware, NEVER turn it on without batteries in it and without being sure they make a good contact. Most of the time if it remains "dead" it's a power supply problem, quite easy to solve. You might want to rebuild your pack, this is done quite easily in opening the pack in 2 pieces with a cutter and replacing the cells with 2 new AA NiCad cells that you will load at full charge before...

Otherwise there are many other articles in this forum that explain how to ressucite a woodstock calc.

Best wishes to succcess !!
