My HP 15C LE has just arrived! Wow!

#18

My HP15C-LE is in my hands. All keys work perfectly, with a pleasent click (not equal to the vintage one I've got, but hey, that's it!) and it IS faster, wow!

I'm gonna use it as my everyday calculator, along with a vintage HP11C.

Long live the Voyager series!

Enjoy! Gotta love having a new toy!

#20

Also my unit was delivered today!
And a 12C AE, a 20B, a couple of 30B (one to be converted into WP34S) and other HP recent paraphernalia...

Let's enjoy a late Xmas! ;-)

I heard that on the HP 15c LE some keys can be faulty.
Which keys are this?

#22

It might happen with any key (GSB, in my case, other keys in other cases).
But that problem is hopefully taken care of, on the new batch. I don't think you need to worry at all, if you are buying one of the new european batch.

Cheers

Paulo

Is it normal that the "f" and "g" keys rattle when you shake it? They all press fine.

#24

Yes. Those two keys are mounted differently from the others, and that creates the rattling (even though, depending on the moulding sequence, some calculators rattle more than others). You'll be fine. It's a great calculator.

Best

Mine rattle as well.

It's a shame that they couldn't get this worked out at first, as when I use it on a solid surface, the F and G keys buzz a little as I type around. Would HP count this as a defect I were to ask for a replacement???

#26

it's not a fault, or a deficiency. it doesn't cause problems. they'd probably laugh at you.

now the way it eats batteries; that's a defect.

Just how fast does it eat batteries?

Frankly, I wish they would actually bring back the HP15C rather than a cheap knockoff of their own product. If I just wanted the same functionality with a lousy keypad and rapidly depleting battery, I could use my iPhone. :)

Mine rattle as well, but I don't consider it a fault. It seems like they sound just as different keys, and they are indeed!

I experimented it a bit, and all worked well until now. Fast and well-responding.

I read about the mistakes in the manual, and they are all there!

HP, HP, two steps ahead and one backward! But I'm so happy for this little new beast that I can pass over it... ;-)

Mine has no rattling keys at all. :)
Now to turn a 30b into a 34s... then back to my beloved 41CL, I presume.

I doubt the latter. ;-)

Eheheheh Marcus... :)))
We'll see: right now I have to put together all the pieces needed for the setup, then I'll try a flashing session.
But a love affair 32 years long is hard to break, or so I feel now.

Greetings,
Massimo

I must thank everybody who provided guides, tools and how-to's on flashing new firmware on 20B/30B.
Everything went really smooth in about 15 minutes (checking each step 3 times), without using the preferred environment: Windows 7 64bit, Prolific USB-RS232 cable, your modified MySamba program and 2344 firmware release.
I now have a new lightweight, extremely fast, easy to handle, inexpensive, replaceable scientific calculator.
I only miss the overlay that seems to be necessary to use it.

Thank you all: it's an impressive achievement!

Eric's achievement with the overlay is priceless. Go for it!

#34

Just did it! ;-)
