HP-65 Help!

#4

As it's my first time in working with a HP-65, I replaced the gummy wheel, and because I don't have any manual, I would like to know if the Card Reader is working properly. Does anybody knows a simple way to test it (read and record)? Which are the instructions should I give to the calculator to make those tests?
Thanks all!

Well, to write a program, key it in and leave the switch in PGM mode. Run a card through and it should pass through smoothly and the display should be steady. If an error occurs the display will flash or pulse.

To read a card leave the switch in RUN mode and enter the card into the machine. If successful the card will run smoothly and the display will be steady. A flashing display indicates a read error.

Sometimes a repaired calc may only be able to read cards written on the machine and not others. You can try a preprogrammed card from HP if you have one. This problem arises if the OD of your wheel is not the same as original (or some other cause for speed variations).

Good Luck and let me know if you need different info, others on this board I am sure will help you also.

Down the page a bit are some links to several HP-65 programs, including games such as Lunar Lander, Craps, Bagels, even Ping Pong (one of my favorites).

Give them a look. They can be tough to key in since the HP-65 does not show line numbers. Be especially careful about double key bounces/presses.

Enjoy!
