Bench Power Supply

#3

I just purchased a 6216A power supply to work on calculators (and other stuff).

What should I set the max current rate at? Should it be different for different series HP's given their different battery configurations? (FYI the 6216A max output is 500mA)

Although the 6216A has a meter with a 500 mA scale, I believe it is only rated to provide a maximum of 400 mA. It should be able to provide 500 mA as long as the line voltage isn't low, but it may not meet the specifications.

250 mA is probably enough for any of the calculators that did not have a printer or card reader.

400 or even 500 mA is not enough for the printing calculators or the ones with card readers. They draw more than an amp when printing or reading/writing cards.
