A coincidence about the kilometer / mile discussion

#2

Some days ago there was a thread about miles and kilometer conversion. I just noticed that the IEEE standards for WAVE (Wireless Access for Vehicular Environments, a.k.a. "smart cars", "car talk" and other popular nicknames) are identified as IEEE 1609.x . It seems somehow appropriate that the conversion factor between miles and meters appears in the name of these vehicular-related definitions.
