Exact same as 12c+ internally.
Comes in a "gift box" that shows the calculator through the front.
User's Handbook was recreated from scratch. Printed and in box. Searchable copy on CD. Manual took forever to get it nearly perfect.
Windows emulator on CD.
AFH was not ready in time to put on CD - will be available for download.
There are units slated for Europe.
Is still being produced (mainly due to delay getting the manual "perfect" causing delay).
There is the normal "sticker" serial on the back, and an individual enumeration number at the bottom.
HHC last year everyone received one of these (at least a non-final version that had printed key colors ala 12cp). Thanks be to them for doing final bug checking to find any remaining issues. A large public thank you to everyone who respected the CDAs and did not discuss it prematurely. . .unlike our distributors and internal web pages. :-(

Well, I was just curious about how they dealt with the larger battery cover, as there's a lot of information on the original 15C back plate, but I can wait :-)

Walter, just set up a gathering near you, get at least 50 people to commit to attending and voila' :-)
Actually, the British club has mini-gatherings all the time, so ping someone in HPCC to get one going.

Wow, just... wow. After years of lurking, I just have to say thank you to Tim and everybody at HP's calculator group. I've been Voyager-less for years (too stubborn to pony up on TAS), and I don't do nearly the calculations that I did when I was younger. Still, I look forward to getting my hands on one of these and using it as my "daily driver". It may be old tech, but the Voyagers just feel right. Thank you!

Excellent. Not to at all diminish the balance of the engineering
effort but I'd imagine recreating both documents was no trivial
task.

I'm a bit curious of that statement above. Are the
key cap legends of the 15c+ double shot molded or surface printed?
I personally find myself drowning in Voyagers. But seeing the
candy on the table may make it difficult to pass up the honor of adding this specimen to the collection. Nice job!

I miss those production lines and the green conveyor belts and the smell of the factory. (hopefully I will be in China in this Oct; at a different company of course :))..

Hi Tim,
i am keen to know what part of "production" does US HP Calculator Division (or Personal Systems Group) do? the 15C is made in China, does that relegate US HP to packaging it nicely for customers?
sorry I meant this question in a nice way, I have been an HP calculator user since 1978 :-)

oh, btw the 12C was once made in Penang, Malaysia. i believe that unit is now an Agilent T&M facility. You really should come work here if Carly's successors decide to close the calculator division :-(

Thanks for the information and pics, Tim. I've been relying on my ancient 16C for a small pocketable calculator for many years, not wanting to risk my aging 41CX. I'll finally be able to get properly scientific, not just computer scientific. ;)
I don't think I've anticipated the arrival of a calculator so much since I bought my 45 back in 1974.

Well thanks Tim and everyone involved in the production. I've been coveting a 15C ever since the mid 80's when I was too poor and bought an 11C instead. This will be my first NEW HP calculator since my 42S bought in 1989.

Everybody keeps thanking me, but I didn't really do anything on this other then be around when it came out. :-)
It existed in one form or another for a couple of years now. Sam Kim, former R&D manager, was the one who pushed to get the first batch made when the first set of 12c+ units was made. Cyrille did the excellent work on the emulator and original 12c+ code.

The date is the firmware version number. We are using dates now as it is much easier to understand and relate to something.

It is commendable that HP was bold enough to distribute early 15C LE's in this manner! And also commendable that those with units for a year now (!!!!) respected their CDA's. (although I did suspect that certain people had them in their possession). Nice job all around!.
Question for Tim or Anyone else at HP: Will any online or brick-and-mortar stores be selling them in Canada? Staples Canada has the new 12C in store, can we expect the same for the 15C LE?

It's great to read here that a printed manual is included with the 15c. However, at the HP website, it says the HP-15c is packaged in a keepsake gift box & for 'What's in the Box' it mentions a Manual on CD is included but says nothing about a printed manual.

Tim Wessman's initial post of 15C info said that there would be a print manual. I'm inclined to believe him over whatever's floating around hp.com these days since assorted misinformation has already been found there (15C listed in printer division, listed as having algebraic mode, etc.)

I hope so. I wonder if they will changes the photos on the original cover. That pic of Saturn in particular is dated. But there have been some spectacular photos of Saturn from Cassini.
