There appear to be eight 15C's listed on TAS at the moment prices running from $61 (with active bidding) to $500. Wonder what this will do to those prices.

Hopefully HP will make enough that this will pull the rug out from under these sellers.

Mind you, I often see buyers paying MORE on eBay than they would direct from the manufacturer, so who knows.

I also think the new 15LE will affect the HP-11C, which I consider to be the 15's younger sibling. Who wants to buy an HP-11C for $150 when you cn get the new HP-15C LE for less???

On close examination, I see that the 15 LE has algebraic option. I was wishing that HP remained true to RPN only. :-(

but Gene says not to worry, it;s pure RPN

Hi,

Like every HHC 2010 attendee, I received a prototype at the conference.

After 11 months playing with it, I can assure you it is pure RPN, no algebraic.

It is just the original HP15C at amazing speed !

What really matters is the unit itself. If what I read is correct and the LE is just a much faster implementation of the original, then the old manual is still good and accurate. The new manual is of secondary importance. As for the emulator, there are already several emulators for Windows, and for the iPod/iPhone/iPad.

It sort of begs the question from where would this new "15c
Owner's Handbook" originate, eg: is this a reproduction of
the original or did HP actually produce a new version in a
contemporary electronic format? Beyond that looms the
question of the availability for the "Advance Functions Handbook"
and in what format that may exist.

A new, very nicely prepared paper Owners manual and a new nicely prepared PDF of the advanced functions book on CD.

98% sure that's what it is. Don't know. Don't have one of these yet.

There are only going to be 10,000 of these made. Each one is individually numbered and comes in a very nice, different box/package.

That seems to be consistent with the suspicion this was primarily
an effort to cultivate a market for a collectable item. But
whatever it takes to get a better version of the Owner's
and Advance Function Handbook to us all. ;)

In the Product Description on the web site, the "own a classic" sentence is (almost) duplicated.

The first line is the best one, in my opinion.

Also, the reference to "complex calculations" may be more specific; it's not a "complexity" issue, but the ability to work with "complex numbers".
