HP-48GX SpeedUI problem

Post: #4

I have tried to install SpeedUI several times now and I can't get it to work except for one quick attempt that later froze. I download the libraries, store them on Port 0 or on my Port 2 RAM card as required. Then I attach them and restart the calculator. It comes up on the stack display okay but the processing icon stays on and the calculator does not respond to any keys. I have tried ON/C/F to clear memory and tried again several times, with and without attaching the libraries. It seems like the CF module starts up and then keeps running, no UI stack displays. Any ideas?

This was the latest V11.05

The last couple of times, I tried to attach the libraries, but nothing shows up as attached when I do RS LIBRARY to see what is attached to the HOME directory.

Hello,

which libraries did you store in which port, and which third-party libraries are installed, and in which ports?

Some of the libraries of the SpeedUI package must be stored in port 0 or 1, like the CF.LIB . For more details please take a look at the MoreInfo.pdf .

Most components should also work from port higher than 1, but it's recommended to store all SpeedUI components in port 0 or 1 for performance reasons, since all higher ports are bank-switched, and thus lead to slower program execution.

Did you install the special UFL library supplied with SpeedUI?

You mention that the library menu doesn't show the SpeedUI components,
which indicates that CF.LIB is not stored in port 0 or 1.

As most libraries, the SpeedUI core component is auto-attaching after a turn of-turn on sequence.
During warmstart, the CF config code also "attaches" (or better activates) the other installed SpeedUI components.

I switched my RAM card to port 1 and the programs seem to be working as advertised. Thanks for the help. I am looking forward to learning and using SpeedUI.
