Another question for the collective wisdom: Did ALL early 12C models have the gold bezel? Or were there exceptions? Thanks! Theo

By all early models, the three cell (357, 1.5v) versions were all gold.

I think the only non gold is the platinum version.

Others will correct me I am sure!!!!

P.S. I see from an earlier post that you may be thinking of swapping the bezel. Just a caveat. The bezel may or may not be easy to remove due to the amount of glue used to hold it down. My 10c was so damaged that I did not care about removing it without destroying it. The donor calc was so corroded (the batteries were fused together by rust) that I was able to sacrifice the interior for the bezel. That is, I was not afraid to heat the bezel to a high temperature that might ruin the LCD panel or internals.

I also think, that a silver bezel with the 12C badge would be a novelty. But that would be a personal choice. If you refinish the bezel while still on the calculator (part of the post you were directed to), then you would remove the gold finish. Spray paint would not be an option. The aluminum would be attractive however.

Thanks for the response Geoff. Indeed, it is one of the very earliest 12C's, and the gold bezel is badly scratched. Seems a pity to pull it apart just to keep the gold color. In fact, I actually have never liked the gold finished 12C's. So I will probably try your 'in place' refinishing ;-) ! Regards, Theo
