HP-35S ROM ?

#8

I wonder if file 35s.sml, which is a part of freely downloadable (but not free - license required to run) HP-35s emulator is a HP-35s ROM?

It happens to contain all HP-35S commands, plus a mysterious X1 X2 X3 X4, CB, YZZY and CBRT entries.

CB and CBRT i am sure are Cube and Cube root. But i failed to execute them on real calc (tried both EQN and ALG).

I am not certain if that is the exact file that is uploaded to the calculator, but yes that does contain ROM code of some variant or another.

I did try them, and they don't work. Finding undocumented code for the 35s is like finding the Holy Grail. It has been mentioned here before that there isn't any such thing, but it sure would be fun to find something. Those codes (CB, CBRT, YZZY) yield "syntax error",
along with ver or version. Is there really nothing?? :-( Glenn

I wonder if the x1 x2 x3 x4 you see are the algebraic stack variables? If you switch from RPN to Alg, you will see them.

These hp-33s functions are missing in the hp-35s.

Has anyone purchased the emulator? $29.99 USD looks too expensive to me.

I have. CB and CBRT give Syntax Error.

I think the emulator has the same ROM image as the actual calculator, as it even has all the bugs.

CB and CBRT appear only once in the .sml file, other functions at least twice. Perhaps they are just left over tags from functions not implemented or from the 33s that the ROM was based on?

To HP: even if it couldn't fit on the keyboard, it would have been nice if it had been left in for programming.

While I'd surely purchase an emulator that would run on a portable device I fail to understand why one running only on Windows costs that much. Is there an advantage in using this on the computer? TIA.

Most likely the latter.

Or inside a menu.
