The main reason I wanted to know if someone had completed this repair was that it personally irritates me and I want to fix it. So if anyone reads this who has done it, please respond.

It is sound advice to find a cheap one on ebay, which I will look for.

I have tried pressing on the bezel and that does help but isn't a long term solution.

I think pressing on the bezel was suggested as a diagnostic method to help isolate the cause of the problem, not as a solution.
