Intesting Auction Site Practice!!!! Read and Learn

#2

Hi All TAS Bidders,

I bought an HP48GX with accessories from TAS. The seller emailed me asking if I would buy for $15 more a cable for the calculator that he did not include in the auction. I wrote back saying no thank you since I already had several such cables. Next thing I know I get a message from PayPal saying the seller has refunded me my money. I wrote the seller asking why and he said he wanted to re-list the item to include the cable!

I called the auction site by phone and complained about this kind of practice!! They said since I was issued a refund, they could not do anything!!!

So here is a new rule that will fly by TAS!! YOU DON'T LIKE THE SELLING PRICE, THEN REFUND THE MONEY AND RELIST IT. IF YOU CAN LIVE WITH JUST A NEGATIVE FEEDBACK THEN YOU ARE FINE!!!

Namir

PS: TAS knows that I am sharing this message with you all!!

What that seller did was so wrong. I hope you left him negative feedback.

According to the above, the seller violated the spirit of
an auction and should be sanctioned. But ebay largely
being an unpoliced mudpit, the reprimand once again falls
into the hands of the alienated buyer. Your one club
is the red doughnut negative feedback -- use it with
full force. The seller may dispute your feedback but you
still have one more follow up after that. The issue is
effectively closed for comment after your second feedback
submission.

FWIW I've seem sellers cancel an auction before the final
12 hour period because bids were running low and the seller
didn't list with (or want to pay for) a reserve. In that
case no opportunity exists for would-be buyer feedback as
the auction never concluded.

It was a Buy-It-Now auction, which I promptly responded to. I was able to leave a negative feedback, but could not open a case (due to the full refund). As far as TAS is concerned, that's all I can do since the seller refunded me my purchase. My feeling is that the seller felt he sold the items for a low amount.

I see no problem here. Rules are rules full stop.
BTW I'm considering selling all my HP48 stuff. Top class. Just to say goodbye to HP. No longer my favorite.

I am looking for the Math and Calculus application Pacs for the 48. Do you have any?

Just for curiosity, what's your favourite now?

Yes, inquiring minds want to know. Since, even with all its issues, AFAICT HP is still the best of what's out there.

Namir, This sounds like seller non-performance issue. You should be able to dispute on those grounds.
