It is interesting to me that you say "bind the logo to the aluminum" - on my units the logo fits in a hole in the aluminum bezel and sticks to the plastic case underneath.
I have new logos as I said, but I've never stuck them on - somehow it was enough knowing I have them! Also, why stick them on just to have them fall off again? My 12C that I found in the street - I don't remember if I ever had the original logo. I do remember that the first thing I found (after the button cells that attracted my attention in the first place) was the bezel, it had come completely off. Also I seem to recall that the plastic had a layer of transfer adhesive under the entire bezel and the logo and it may be that HP relied on just having the edges of the logo adhere. The high-tack version of transfer adhesive is amazingly strong - but the idea that my 12C had it is inconsistent with the way the entire bezel popped off. Currently, my 12C has no logo and the bezel and the LCD window are held in place with scotch tape. I just took a look at my 15C though - I still have the original (to me - I got the calculator at a sidewalk sale) logo which is loose and scratched up. It is also held in place with scotch tape. I lifted it to see how it had been attached and there is a neat quantity of what appears to be RTV in there. I say a neat quantity meaning it looks like it might have been done at the factory - just enough glue as if done by metered equipment. I think the human tendency (I know it's mine) is to use too much. This makes me feel better about Shoe Goo, which sounds like an extra-strong kind of RTV.
Maybe HP only supplied the thin double sided tape with the replacement parts that customer service sent out, to save people the trouble of finding and applying the correct adhesive.
