It's not clear to me from the museum pages whether the anniversary editions for both the 32S and 14B were available to the general public or just to employees and shareholders. The wording for the 32S suggests that it was but the wording for the 14B is not as clear -- only the employee price is given. Were these editions available in stores?

Don, Any reference to how many 32s' were sold? I got one from my Uncle who was a regional sales mgr for HP. He was also kind enough to give me his old HP-10 as well!

Well, I don't have that info, but I think I read somewhere it was in the tens of thousands. Perhaps Tim could look into the old internal archives and let us know, although I suspect that info is no longer available. ▼

So not exactly rare. But I didn't think so, due to the frequent appearance on eB**.

Internal archives? Most corporations can't even remember what happened last quarter, let along years ago. . . :-D TW

Quote: Me too. I think the 32S 50th is more likely to be appreciated by scientific professionals so they've gotten snapped up and help onto. The 14B 50th calculators are more "liquid". Wlodek wrote this in the early days of ebay, when the dynamics were quite different and there were fewer HP calculator collectors. ▼

Quote: I agree, I only got a 14B 50th for a resonable price at ebay, so the "normal" one is still missing in my collection. Same with the 32S at ebay, I bought a normal one in used condition with German manual for 40 EUR some years ago. About one or two years later I got a 32S 50th in excellent condition with German manual and 50th edition box for 50 EUR. I bought both calculators somewhere around 2005 and later, so in a time where the Pioneers, especially the 32SII went out of production and from the dealers stock. I really miss the times (< 2003) where you got a 32SII in good condition for ~35 EUR or below. :) Christoph |
