Does anyone agree with me that the possible reason why this calculator works as describes is because it doesn't have the battery?

No, I do not agree. An HP-67 or HP-65 will work fine powered from the ac adapter w/o a battery present. The card reader sensor may be damaged, affecting card reader operation, but the main logic circuitry and display will not be affected.

That machine has problems! You can still buy it but it needs some serious fixing. |
