hp86 format files

I have a bunch of data files in HP 86 format, is there any way to translate those discs into standard pc format, or any software that can read that format???

is this data land survey data files or something else.

NI has routine for porting IEEE488 formats in to a pc format, I never tried it, but have been told it works. If you try it let me know the results, I have several hundred programs on tape and 5.5 diskettes I would like to save.

I think this discussion is getting confused. Todd is asking how to access DATA within HP86 files, while JR is talking about getting stuff off the floppies.

While I can't help Todd, JR can download the LIFUTIL program from the hpmuseum ftp site and use a PC to recover the files.

Once this is done, if he wishes to actually recover data stored within HP-86 DATA files, he will have the same problem as Todd.

I misunderstood what Todd was trying to do, thank-you both for the information to solving my problem.

We used a serial port connection to transfer and translate land survey data files from a hp 86 or hp 85 to a pc using maptech software. This worked very well.
