LINUX LIF tools error

#3

Hi All,

I have been trying to use Mr Duell's excellent looking LIF utils on a new DELL Optiplex 755 at work. The disks are initialised with a volume header (I think) on my 71b/9114a with say

Initialize TEST:1

I then try to use the LIF utils running under MINT 2.6.28-11-generic

Whatever I do , the disk spins for a while and I get the same error:

mint@mint ~/Desktop/LIF $ ./lifdir /dev/fd0
Error on recalibrate

Any ideas ?

Best Regards

Sean Connor

The error looks quite low level as if the drive or controller were unable to adjust themselves to the physical disk format (sector size, density and such.)
