The Buy It Now price seems high for this model, but then again, for a complete set, in excellent condition? Also, note that this auction has a "best offer" option, so you can bid less if you want.

Allthough the source is quoted, I find it quite insolent to use that much of this sites text in the auction.

Ah, I see eBay continues to provide "auction porn" for this audience. :)

What I find ridiculous is living in EU and USA, these group of countries that constantly tell us that the communists are the bogey man and try to impose them their "free, everyone save-yourself market" and then coming here to blame on someone that set the price they very well please to sell a good they rightfully own.

The last time I checked the free market wasn't only for Microsoft, General Electric, Shell, ExxonMobil, JPMorgan and others ... now that, well that I find ridiculous, who you can stand the obscene money these people make but come here to point your finger at someone that is trying to earn less that $1000.

Whoa, dude, calm down, this is a forum for calculator enthusiasts, not a right-wing think tank. Methinks your anger is misdirected.

Ridiculous? Not if he actually sells it for his BIN price. Not if someone wants it bad enough to pay that, and most of us on this forum would pay top dollar for a model we are especially fond of, in pristine condition, right? Heck, I paid $350 for an HP-65 a couple of years ago, and many would have considered that rather outrageous, but it was worth it to me. Now, would I have paid $900? No, but who knows, someone might have.

BTW, the $350 you paid for the HP-65 is perfectly reasonable for that model, even $500 would be reasonable for a complete set in good cosmetic and working condition. The HP-80 is a much less significant model, and routinely sells as a complete set in the $100 to $200 range (I have 4 very good to excellent sets). If the one in the auction were completely new in the box, then perhaps it might be worth that, but it's not. In fact, the manuals are in only fair cosmetic condition and I think that the word "mint" used by the seller is hyperboly and unjustified. Certainly, it is not pristine. Note that a photo of the battery compartment is not provided.

It will be interesting to see if anyone bites on this.
